The Competency Management and Development System
The Competency Management and Development System (CMDS) is a program founded by Keyera to provide a comprehensive
competency-based approach to managing job requirements in the oil and gas industry. It ensures that employees and
contractors understand the requirements of the positions that they hold within the facilities where they work, and
it provides a credible and transferrable record of each individual's knowledge and skills.
Shift iQ fully supports and endorses this program by providing the underlying technology to enable its delivery
online. This is an online application based on technical competencies and industry-defined profiles. The
CMDS program itself has been (and can be) audited by third parties to ensure that organizational requirements for
due diligence are met.

The Centre for Competency Development and Management Solutions
The Centre for Competency Development and Management Solutions (CCDMS) is an association with a mission to achieve
workforce commitment to safe operating practices and regulatory compliance by setting shared standards for
competency development and management.
Companies operating in many industry sectors are required by law to provide appropriate training and to certify
that employees and contractors satisfy the job requirements for their individual positions. This is a mandate
on which companies can work together and gain a great deal of synergy. The CCDMS enables companies to contribute
openly, knowing that they have a voice in the development of current and future occupational standards, and that
their efforts are for the betterment of their industry. With increased engagement there is growing commitment and
positive energy, which is important for any industry taking proactive steps toward self-regulation.
